You need to make sure you use these on a fully charged (12V minimum) battery or it will not work to maintain the charge and could damage your battery or the charger. Check your battery level with a good, reliable multimeter beforehand and if it's not up to at least 12V then use a normal battery charger to get it to that level before using the float charger. A float charger only maintains your battery's existing full charge. The specifications indicate an output voltage of about 13 volts, but under load, it is slightly above 14 volts, which is a problem. This can damage the battery, due to over-voltage. Already has ruined some of mine. There are about three different models, all have about the same specifications. This unit is low costs and works fine for short periods, but not to be left alone. This unit was used on fully charged batteries to float them.
